The legendary Rob Strong, known as the ‘Godfather of Soul’ is making a rare visit to Navan after performing regularly with The Plattermen at venues like The Beechmount Ballroom in the 1970s .Rob’s only Navan performance in many years was as Brian Byrne’s special guest at The Solstice Theatre in November 2021, when he received a standing ovation.

Rob’s son, Andrew Strong, toured with The Rolling Stones, Elton John and Prince after he starred as ‘Deco Cuffe’ in the smash hit movie The Commitments. Rob himself toured the UK and Europe with the Commitments band and was vocal coach for both soundtrack albums from the movie. Rob is revered in the music business as evident in these quotes from his website www.robstrong.ie and from his biography written by his manager, Paul Holland, from Kells.
