
Vacancy for 1st Horn
Irish Chamber Orchestra (ICO) has a vacancy for 1st Horn.
Resident at the Irish World Academy of Music & Dance at the University of Limerick, ICO is one of Ireland’s most dynamic ensemble and principal cultural ambassadors. The orchestra runs a concert season in Limerick and Dublin and tours regularly at home and abroad. Thomas Zehetmair is Principal conductor and Jörg Widmann and Thomas Zehetmair are Artistic Partners. The orchestra works with artists such as Henning Kraggerud, Florian Donderer, Brett Dean, Sheku Kanneh-Mason, Tabea Zimmermann, Igor Levit, Elisabeth Leonskaja and Istvan Vardai. Throughout the past decade, the ICO has performed at leading concert halls and festivals across Europe, the U.S.A., and South America. The ICO has released a series of acclaimed recordings on the prestigious Orfeo and Alpha Classics labels.
The ICO guarantees a minimum of five monthly freelance contracts each year – each month generally comprises of five to eight days depending on the number of concerts. Each monthly retainer includes payment for five rehearsals. All rehearsals take place at the ICO Studio in the University of Limerick.
The orchestral diary is finalised 3 months in advance, although in practice dates are notified up to a year in advance.
The closing date for applications is March 27th 2023 and auditions will be held in Limerick on April 16th. Audition requirements and prepared sight reading will be posted to successful applicants.
