Senior Development Manager
Glyndebourne is seeking an experienced fundraising professional to join their Development team. The primary objective of this role is to increase revenue generated from individual fundraising. Since 1934, Glyndebourne has remained financially independent and is dedicated to presenting high-quality opera, commissioning new work, nurturing new talent, and reaching broader audiences.
As a Senior Development Manager, you will play a crucial part in surpassing the annual fundraising target within the busy Development department. Your responsibilities will include developing a strategy for major gifts (donations of £10,000 and above), and increasing the number of regular donors through prospecting, cultivation, and stewardship.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of effective fundraising techniques, donor stewardship best practices, excellent analytical skills, and a professional and diplomatic approach. Strong communication and creative thinking abilities are essential, along with the capacity to work calmly under pressure and convey complex information to various audiences.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
– Identify, cultivate, and engage High Net Worth individuals.
– Plan and implement a strategy to increase the current pool of major donors by maximising the Glyndebourne database.
– Manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects, developing bespoke strategies and delivering cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship plans.
– Offer the highest level of stewardship to existing donors through targeted individual events and year-round stewardship.
– Support the Development team in a year-round programme of events and liaise with supporters face to face.
Essential skills and experience:
– Self-motivated with a proven track record of soliciting major individual gifts of £10,000 and above.
– Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
– Confidence in face-to-face negotiations.
– Experience with a CRM database.
Salary and benefits:
The offered salary is approximately £43,000 per annum, dependent on experience, with annual reviews on 1st January. The contractual hours of work are 35 hours per week, involving unsociable hours, including evenings and weekends during the Glyndebourne Festival, Autumn programme, and other times of the year.
