Rival Consoles, Penguin Café, Peter Broderick, Hatis Noit and Anne Müller for Erased Tapes Celebration in Dublin
The National Concert Hall has announced a multi-faceted concert in celebration of the London-based independent record label Erased Tapes. The event will take place on 20 May and will see eight artists who have released music on the label, including headliners Rival Consoles and Penguin Café, performing in various spaces in the NCH.
This will be the label’s first ever event in Ireland, having celebrated its 15th anniversary in London last November with a concert at the Printworks venue.
Performing on the night is London producer Ryan Lee West, known under the moniker Rival Consoles. The electronic artist, who has released all his EPs and albums on the Erased Tapes label, has honed a sound that blends ambient, minimal techno and shoegaze with synths throughout his fifteen-year career. Also headlining the concert is chamber jazz ensemble Penguin Café, formed in 2009 by musician and composer Arthur Jeffes. In 2021, the band re-issued their debut album A Matter of Life… (2011) on Erased Tapes as a completely remastered record.
Kiasmos, Broderick
Also on the line-up is Janus Rasmussen of the electronic duo Kiasmos who will perform a DJ set of the act’s music, and Galway-based American composer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Peter Broderick who released his record Piano Works Vol.1 (Floating In Tucker’s Basement) on the label in November 2022.
Japanese voice artist Hatis Noit – who performed at the NCH last November as part of the Haunted Dancehall event – is also on the line-up, as well as Pakistani-American composer and drummer Qasim Naqvi, and Berlin-based cellist Anne Müller. There will also be a DJ set by French avant-RnB producer Crayon – the latest addition to the Erased Tapes label.
Erased Tapes was founded in London in 2007 by Robert Raths with a focus on avant-garde and experimental electronic music. The label’s first release was Lee West’s Vermeer EP (2007), from his Aparatec project. Other artists on its roster include Montreal six-piece Bell Orchestre, German composer and producer Nils Frahm and Brooklyn acoustic band Dawn of Midi.
