Rónán Ó Snodaigh – Tá Go Maith
Singer, multi-instrumentalist and member of Kíla, Rónán Ó Snodaigh, has this week released a new album Tá Go Maith. The record is a collaboration between Ó Snodaigh and filmmaker Myles O’Reily’s ambient electronic musical project Indistinct Chatter. The twelve-track album, including the previously released singles ‘Tá’n t’Ádh Liom’ and ‘Ar Ár Son’, was created during the 2020 lockdown, when Ó Snodaigh and O’Reilly relocated to a remote cottage near Maynooth, bringing with them a selection of instruments and recording equipment. The ethereal and synth-based sound is a change of direction from Ó Snodaigh’s previous, mostly folk and traditional work, and has a clear influence of O’Reilly’s Indistinct Chatter work. The lyrics were inspired by lockdown, friends, family and a sense of gratitude. ‘It’s not finding gratitude that matters most; it’s remembering to look in the first place’, said Ó Snodaigh on the inspiration behind the album. ‘Gratefulness doesn’t just make you happy, it creates a positive feedback loop in your relationships. A Lilac Decline – Live at Nun’s Island Theatre 
Galway-based musician and visual artist Cecilia Danell – performing as A Lilac Decline – has recently released a video of a live performance at Nun’s Island Theatre, via record label Rusted Rail. The performance includes songs from her second album Shelter From the Shadows such as ‘Sunset Song’ and ‘They’ll Never Know’. ‘The Mountain Rages’ from her debut album of the same name also features in the performance. The concert begins with a lo-fi set up of Dannell performing solo and acoustic, before being joined by fellow Rusted Rail musicians Keith Wallace on bass and Brian Kelly on drums. God Knows – Glory
Rap artist and founder of record label Narolane, God Knows today releases a new track ‘Glory’. The song, produced by his brother Godwin Jonas, features the vocals of singer Senita Appiakorang, member of Cork band Shookrah. ‘Glory’ is an upbeat song with a strong percussion and a beat that draws on the South African style of house and jazz music called Amapiano. Commenting on the track, God Knows said ‘Glory means to bring honour. It means having the courage to risk it all… Unapologetically black, Irish, diasporan, complex, fluid, and grounded. Nagam – Youthless Dublin
Youthless Dublin is the latest EP from Dublin electronic artist Orán Magan, who performs under the moniker Nagam. The record follows his debut EP from earlier this year, Objectif Lune, and contains a collection of songs including dance track ‘Not Young Enough to Care’ and ambient works ‘Music for Music’s Sake’ and ‘Traceless Faces’.
