This programme title has been curated around the idea of the human spirit, continually unfolding out of adversity, the triumph of human spirit over difficulty, war, trauma and oppression.

The pieces of music we have chosen illustrate some of the most powerful and sometimes beautiful pieces of music written despite great adversity in the composer's life; despite adversity. We can all identify with triumph over distress, hardship and heartbreak. It is part of the human condition. We hope that this concert series will provide a metaphor for survival, growth and flourishing.
