Henry Purcell’s expressive Chacony in G minor is a fine example of Restoration theatre music performed in the 1600’s. Kristian Bezuidenhout showcases two of Mozart’s finest piano concerti. His Piano Concerto No. 18 was written for the blind virtuoso Maria Theresia Paradis and demonstrates a thrilling interplay between instruments. His sublime Concerto No. 25 boldly breaks barriers of Mozart’s highly stylized form, paving the way for incredible variety, diversity, and originality. In between enjoy a dramatic and joyful romp in Gluck’s Dance of the Furies.
