Ian Bostridge Concert - Shakespeare Songs
Ireland's Summer Opera Festival will be alive with opera, concerts, recitals and free events from 29 May - 05 June 2023.
Ian Charles Bostridge CBE is an acclaimed English tenor, well known for his performances as an opera and lieder singer, and song recitalist. Ian Bostridge’s international recital career has taken him to the foremost concert halls of Europe, Japan, and North America.
Ian will be accompanied by Saskia Giorgini – an Italian-Dutch pianist, who won the Salzburg International Mozart Competition in 2016. Her latest album of Franz Liszt’s Harmonies Poétiques et Religieuses was awarded a Diapason d’Or, and she has also recorded Schöne Müllerin and Respighi Songs with Ian Bostridge.
Ian Bostridge and Antonio Pappano released the album Shakespeare Songs in 2016, marking the 400th anniversary of the death of William Shakespeare. Shakespeare Songs celebrated the four centuries of music and performance that his plays and sonnets have inspired. Shakespeare’s peerless feeling for the music of the English language has inspired countless composers, from those who set the Bard’s verse during his lifetime to musicians as diverse as Britten, Finzi, Korngold and Stravinsky.
