The Drystones

Thursday, 12 January 2023, 8.00pm

The Drystones play a folktronica fusion that sees Alex Garden and Ford Collier’s trad instruments bent out of shape by Evan Carson’s pounding electro-percussion. From humble beginnings busking on the streets of Somerset, they have come to the fore of a generation of folk acts bringing a new energy to timeless traditions.

In 2021, they released Vulpus: an album that embraces a blend of trad folk with electronic music – the fire and energy of their fiddle and guitar integrated into a distinctly modern groove. The same year saw the founding duo of Alex and Ford team up with ‘percussion maestro’ (prog magazine) Evan Carson, and launch an Arts Council funded mission to bring younger audiences to folk.

Having played Glastonbury Festival and with a BBC Radio 2 Folk Award nomination under their belts, The Drystones know how to please a crowd. Whether you’re more at home in a crusty tavern or a sweaty disco, a Drystones show is the place for you.
