Casting Call for experienced performers
SALT is a multidisciplinary collaboration between a community of swimmers, a poet, a composer and a theatre-maker in celebration of our connection to the sea. Performances will take place on two beaches in Galway in Spring 2023 as part of the Galway Theatre Festival.
Led and directed by Vanessa Earl, in collaboration with composer Robbie Blake, and poetry by Mary Madec, this project is funded by The Arts Council with support from Galway County Council and Galway Theatre Festival, produced by Culture Works.
The team is looking to cast four vocal/physical performers and would like to hear from you if:
– You are a professional or experienced performer working with voice, theatre or dance
– You have a movement background (for example dance, Lecoq or similar) or experience in creative movement/performance, or
– You have a vocal background across any genre (for example traditional, choral, opera, jazz) and are confident in solo and group singing
– You are happy to perform outdoors
– You have an interest in or love of the sea and perhaps spend time in the water in one way or another!
There will be a three-hour workshop on January 14th in Galway City where the team will work altogether and in smaller groups to explore gestural choreography, choral singing and vocal soundscapes.
The workshop will be led by performer and theatre-maker Vanessa Earl and composer and vocalist Robbie Blake.
