Arts Council Seeking over 100 Artists to Work in 400 Schools Nationwide

Applications are now open for artists to work as part of the Creative Schools initiative; the deadline for applications is 18 April.

The Arts Council has announced that it is seeking between 100 and 120 artists or creative practitioners to work in up to 400 schools across the Republic of Ireland. The opportunity is part of the Creative Schools initiative, which grants funding to schools to develop plans for creativity and provides them with a Creative Associate.

Creative Associates (CAs) are artists or creative practitioners with a deep understanding of creativity and its potential to transform the lives of children and young people. The Arts Council is seeking to engage CAs for a maximum of 45 hours throughout the school year. CAs can be assigned to work with one school or a number of schools.

Those interested can apply either as an individual or as part of an organisation to provide services in music, visual arts, creative writing, heritage, drama/theatre, dance, animation, coding, architecture, film, craft or design.

Specific services could include participation in training and networking events; helping schools understand their approach to the arts and creativity; establishing collaborative opportunities for schools with arts, cultural and educational provision; and developing materials and resources to help schools in the Creative Schools initiative.

Successful applicants will be paid a set fee of €65 per hour. The deadline for applications is 18 April.

Creative Schools is an initiative of the Creative Ireland Programme and is led by the Arts Council in partnership with the Department of Education and the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.
